Welcome to Emmits.com

This busy intersection is no stranger to wild times. Originally constructed as the Italian Trust & Savings, the building that houses Emmit's once housed the valuable hordes of several prominent Chicago gangsters. The remnants of this era can be seen throughout the building. Along the years the building has evolved, but the spirit of old-school Chicago remains. Some of the craziest occurences include the shooting of two would-be robbers and the banning of illegal dwarf-tossing exhibitions brought on by the ingenuity of a former employee.

While gun-toting thieves and flying dwarves are no longer a concern, memorable evenings are the standard. The pub has undergone many liquor-serving incarnations.

In addition to the craziness, the bar is also a favorite location for Hollywood producers. There have been many scenes shot in Emmit's, including Ocean's 11, Ocean's 12, Backdraft, Uncle Buck, Only the Lonely, and several others.

Established in 1996, Emmit’s has become the neighborhood’s unrivaled corner pub. True to its' heritage, the bar’s decor runs the gamut from traditional Irish items to official Chicago Police paraphernalia. In addition to a wide range of domestic and imported microbrews, the bar boasts an original martini list, and offers both Irish and American dining selections. Sample the shepherd’s pie along with one of the many scotches! Stop by and say slainte!
